Being in Milan in April 2025 was one of the most intense and inspiring experiences a designer can have. Milan Design Week (Salone del Mobile and Fuorisalone) felt like a creative explosion spread across the entire city. Every corner, every window display, every exhibition space breathed design.
This year’s theme, “Materia in Movimento” (“Material in Motion”), brought together new materials redefined by technology with sustainable approaches inspired by nature. The installations I encountered in Brera and Tortona districts especially left a deep impression on me.
Moments of Inspiration
One of the most unforgettable moments happened in an installation housed in a former factory. Wood was reinterpreted through sound and light; it felt like walking through the memory of the material itself. In another venue, I saw works by Turkish designers — both proud and hopeful moments.
The Future of Design
Seeing how AI is being integrated into design processes was truly exciting. It’s not just about form anymore — it’s about transforming the way we make decisions. Design now is about crafting experiences, creating interactions, and adding meaning, beyond producing objects.
My Own Showcase
A personal highlight was the opportunity to exhibit a selection of my own works in a small gallery as part of the Fuorisalone program. Interacting directly with visitors and discussing my designs from fresh perspectives was simply unforgettable.
Conclusion
Milan Design Week 2025 didn’t just inspire me; it gave me the courage to rethink and recreate. If you're in any way passionate about design, I wholeheartedly recommend experiencing this week in person at least once in your life.
